This weekend was a really great break from life in Salvador. The town we visited was like Colonial Brazil, with super steep roads and really awesome architecture. We left for the airport at 3 am, left at 5, then traveled 2 hours by plane and 3 hours by bus. ROUGH TIMES! I really don't remember much from the tour we had directly after that, for obvious reasons. I was very glad to get to the hotel.
We stayed in a really beautiful hotel with windows that we could all lean out and shout to each other, which is something we were all very interested in. We were all woken up from our naps by a large cat with a hideous meow. We saw one too many churches that weekend, but it was very relaxing and a lot slower lifestyle than Salvador. Which is saying a lot because Salvador is in no hurry.
In Orto Preto, these steep roads are covered in slate rocks. When it rains, these rocks get very slippery. When one wears flip flops with zero traction, one may fall. On her ass. After this, this person may decide to run around in the pouring rain in a strange foreign Brazilian town with no shoes. I'm sure my mom doesn't want to hear this, but it happened to me. And I'm fine. The town was actually really clean and I wasn't worried about the no shoes situation. But also, I got my tetanus shot so I felt protected by modern medicine.
This week we got mad work piled on for our classes. But don't worry, I will survive and spend plenty of time at the beach this last week and a half.
Ps - Adam, I knew you would be the one to count the number of times I said 'sweat.' Orto Preto was not sweaty, therefore, aside from this PS, no need to comment on the sweating.
